Salahuddin was police tortured post-mortem report confirms

LAHORE: The Post-Mortem report of ATM Robber (Salahuddin Ayubi) was physically tortured in the custody by Rahim Yar Khan Police.

The report confirms the Salahuddin died due to physical police torture.

A day after Salahuddin was arrested, a video surfaced on a social media where Rahim Yar Khan police was torturing Salahuddin and the very next day he died.

Father of slain Salahuddin, Mohammad Afzaal claimed that his son was brutally tortured in the custody.

However, Initially, the law enforcing agencies ignored the post-mortem report.

On the Social Media’s pressure, IGP Punjab took the notice and directed to get the port-mortem done from Lahore.

The deceased body had been sent to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency for an examination.

The PFSA confirmed in its report that the deceased had been subjected to the physical and mental torture.

On the basis of the PFSA report, a medical board, led by Sheikh Zayed Hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Ghulam Rabbani, said that it was of “unanimous opinion” that the torture marks on Salahuddin’s body were “ante-mortem (occurring before death) in nature & caused by Blunt Means — confirming ante mortem physical violence”.

“Possibility of death due to combined effects of ante-mortem injuries mentioned in postmortem report, inhalation abuse, restrictive lungs disease & neurogenic shock cannot be ruled out,” it said.

Now the provincial medical board will conduct the second post-mortem.

Meanwhile, SHO and Investigation Offiicer (IO) were suspended after the incident surfaced on social media and the case was registered against them, yet they are not behind the bars.
