SBP Clarifies Reports of New Pakistani Currency Notes

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has confirmed on social media that all reports of the central bank planning to introduce new Pakistani currency notes as false and termed all such reports as “Fake News.”

“Some fake news regarding new designs of currency notes is circulating on social media.” said the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Twitter. “SBP categorically denies the news and clarifies that no such proposal is under consideration at the moment.”

It is pertinent to mention that social media has been flooded with news of new Pakistani currency notes being introduced by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

These fake news reports claimed that SBP has approved new designs of the Pakistani currency notes in order to control the circulation of fake currency in the country as these new currency notes will be made of plastic material, which makes it more difficult to create counterfeits.
