Sheikh Rasheed has responded to a leaked audio call between him and a person named Gul Zaman regarding a ‘payment’ being made to PML-N leader Jalil Sharaqpuri to resign from his seat in the Punjab Assembly. Sheikh Rasheed said that the leaked audio call was original, but he made the statement about the payment as a joke.
In the leaked audio call, Sheikh Rasheed could be heard talking to a person named Gul Zaman about PML-N leader Jalil Sharaqpuri. “You handed over the payment to Sharaqpuri yesterday.” said Rasheed, while the other person would be heard saying that he should be careful and not say anything as it was a telephonic conversation.
However, Sheikh Rasheed has said there was no exchange of money and he made the statement as a joke and was not being serious. It is pertinent to mention that Jalil Sharaqpuri sent his resignation a day earlier to the Punjab Assembly speaker.

The political tensions are high in Punjab due to the by-elections on 20 controversial constituencies, which will decide the fate of Chief Minister of of Province.
