Sukkur Multan Motorway M5 will be operational from Oct 1

ISLAMABAD: Sukkur Multan Motorway (M5) 392 Kilometers long section will be operational from 1st October 2019.

According to the sources, National Highway and Motorway Authority delayed the opening of (M5) Motorway section due to Abdul Hakeem to Khanewal Motorway patch is under construction.

Sukkur Multan Motorway (M5) will be the first Motorway to connect Sindh and Punjab. Expected to be one of the most busiest Motorway of Pakistan

Once the Abdul Hakeem to Khanewal Motorway section completes, Chain of Motorways will be connected from Peshawar to Sukkur.

Meanwhile, Sukkur Hyderabad Motorway (M6) feasibility is ready and it is not being constructed due to lack of development funds.

Sukkur Multan M5 Motorway section will reduce travel time Islamabad to Sukkur will reduce to nine and a half hours.

In an another news, Motorway Authorities has increased Islamabad-Lahore Motorway M2 toll fare from Rs 680/- to Rs 750/-.

The hiring of new Motorway Police and other departmental personals is underway as new Motorways are being completed, Acting IG Motorway Police Khalid Mehmood told Senate standing committee that “New Highways and Motorways are being handed over to the department but no additional staff is provided which is resulting in inefficiency and road accidents.

  1. I travelled on M5 yesterday from panu aqil cantt to Multan , all work r completed not understanding why not operational for public only special person can travel if having prior permission from control room
