Islamabad defeated Quetta Gladiators by 2 wickets with 3 balls remaining in Match 21 of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 8 2023) at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
Islamabad won the toss and elected to bowl first, however, Quetta Gladiators still managed to set a target of 179 for the Islamabad United despite a rough start with early order batsman being dismissed too quickly.
Yasir Khan was only able to score 5 runs off 11 balls, while Will Smeed was dismissed for 0 and Sarfaraz Ahmed was sent packing to the pavilion for just 3 runs. Muhammad Nawaz gave Quetta Gladiators a boost as he scored 52 runs off 44 balls.
Iftikhar Ahmed only managed 2 runs, while Najibullah Zadran added a much needed 59 runs to the score total and Umar Akmal scored a brilliant unbeaten 43 runs off 14 balls.
Islamabad United also had a rough start with Rahmanullah Gurbaz being dismissed for nil, while Alex Hales only managed 12 runs off 9 balls. However, Colin Munro was able to get the Islamabad United back in the game with a score of 63 runs off 29 balls.
Shadab Khan failed to perform as well and only scored 8 runs off 4 balls, while Mubasir Khan was also dismissed for 5 runs off just 7 balls.
Azam Khan and Faheem Ashraf made sure to guide the team to victory in the end as they both scored 35 and 39 runs off 25 and 31 balls, respectively. Meanwhile, Asif Ali was dismissed for 6 and Hasan Ali only managed 1 run.
