Peshawar Zalmi won the match against Lahore Qalandars by 35 runs in Match 22 of the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 8 2023) held at Pindi Cricket Stadium.
Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and elected to bat first and despite getting all out in the last over, the team was able to set a decent target of 208 runs for the Lahore Qalandars thanks to Saim Ayub, Babar Azam and Tom Kohler Cadmore.
Peshawar Zalmi had a decent start with a strong partnership between Saim Ayub and Babar Azam, who managed to score 68 and 50 runs, respectively. However, things took a turn for the worse after fall of the first wicket.
Soon after, Mohammad Haris was dismissed for 8 runs and while Tom Kohler-Cadmore was able to score a much needed 36 runs in 16, the rest of the batting lineup failed miserable with every barely scoring 10 runs.
Lahore Qalandars had a terrible start to their batting with the opening order and middle order completely failing to perform until Hussain Talat and Shaheen Afridi came to the pitch and scored some much needed runs.
Shawaiz Irfan (0), Fakhar Zaman (11), Abdullah Shafique (7), Sam Billings (0) were dismissed in the first few overs, however, Hussain Talat and Shaheen Afridi managed to give the team a fighting chance with 63 and 52 runs, respectively.
Meanwhile, Sikandar Raza also managed to score 20 runs off 7 balls. However, despite the efforts of a few, Lahore Qalandars lost to Peshawar Zalmi.
