The All rounder Anwar Ali will be replacing the suspended batsman Umar Akmal in the Quetta Gladiators squad for the Pakistan Super League fifth edition (PSL 2020) that kicks off today at Karachi’s National Stadium.
The decision was announced on Thursday by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following the event’s technical committee approval.
Umar Akmal had been suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board under Article 74.7.1 of its Anti Corruption Code which is imposed when the cricketer in question in involved in “exceptional circumstances” that might undermine the integrity of the sport.
Umar Akmal will now be replaced by Anwar Ali, 32, who will be coming in as a silver category player and had turned out for Quetta Gladiators squad in previous PSL tournaments scoring 191 runs and ttaking 323 tickets in a total of 32 PSL matches.
The defending champions Quetta Gladiators will be playing against two time former winners Islamabad United tonight in Karachi at the National Stadium at 9PM.
