In a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, Musk said that will implement a “small monthly payment” for using the X platform. He added that such a change would help to deal with bots or fake accounts on the platform.

The social media giant’s new owner, who took over last year, has been incentivizing users to pay to X Premium by offering paid subscribers more features and increased visibility on the platform.

However, Elon Musk did not an exact date for the implementation of the small monthly payment or how much the new subscription will cost users, but he did mention that X was looking into cheaper options for users of X Premium.

“We’re actually going to come up with a lower tier pricing. So we just want it to be just a small amount of money,” he stated. “This is a longer discussion, but in my view, this is actually the only defence against vast armies of bots,” he added.

According to Elon Musk, X has 550 million monthly users, who generate 100 to 200 million posts every day. However, if X is put behind a paywall, it may lose a significant portion of its users.

  1. It’s not a good idea. It can decrease users on X platform. So chose any other way for identification of bots. Thank you from Imran…Karachi Pakistan
