Epic Games Store crashed with Error 500

Epic Games Store crashed giving “Error 500” stating “an unexpected error had occurred after users around the world logged into their accounts to claim a free copy of Grand Theft Auto V or GTA V.

GTA V was rumored to be available for free on the Epic Games Store today when their timer for the Mystery Game counted down to zero. The amount of users logging into their Epic accounts ended up crashing their servers giving users “Error 500”

Epic Games Store also tweeted saying:

We are currently experiencing high traffic on the Epic Games Store. We are aware that users may be encountering slow loading times, 500 errors, or launcher crashing at this time and we are actively working to scale. We’ll provide an update as soon as we can.

Many users took to Twitter to report the their Epic Games Store crashed as they were unable to claim the free copy of GTA V.
