LG showcasing WebOS Auto at CES 2020

LG Electronics is going to enter the car infotainment market next year and has announced that will be be showcasing the new WebOS Auto at CES 2020. LG says that they will be showcasing this at their own booth as well as their partners which are Qualcomm and Microsoft and more. The WebOS Auto is built on the Qualcomm Automotive Development Platform (ADP). LG aims to compete with current car infotainment platforms such as Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto.

The platform is said to have support for content from companies such as iHeartRadio, Mapbox, Cerence to begin with. LG has partnered with a car seat manufacturer Adient to showcase the service at CES 2020 where they are going to have a demo of connected car at the booth.

Some of the companies that will be showing the demos on their booth are the ones that partnered with LG to develop WebOS Auto. These companies are Microsoft, Qualcomm and Luxoft and Qt.

WebOS Auto is said to have multi-display support as well as 5G since it is based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Automotive Development Platform. An Audio, visual and nagivation demo will be given by Microsoft at CES 2020.

Qt, a Finnish software company will showcase a human machine interface developed on their tool “Qt” and Luxoft will have a concept car developed on WebOS Auto.

These are all big tech giants working together on this platform which will probably give great competition to current car infotainment systems in the market.
