Twitter is Finally Getting An Edit Tweet Button

The micro-blogging site, Twitter, has finally started testing its much-awaited ‘Edit Tweet Button’ that will allow users to make changes to their Tweets after they have been published, which is going to allow them to fix things like typos or adding additional hashtags without having to delete the entire Tweet and post again.

According to the details, the Edit Tweet feature is being tested by their internal team after which it will be expanded to Twitter Blue users, who pay $4.99 as a subscription for early access and extra feature, by the end of this month. The ‘Edit Tweet Button’ will allow Twitter Blue users to make changes to their Tweets several times within 30 minutes following their publication.

Edited Tweets will appear with an icon, timestamp, and label so it’s clear to readers that the original Tweet has been modified. However, users will have access to the pre-edited version of the Tweet by tapping the label, which is going to take viewers to the Tweet’s Edit History, which includes past versions of the Tweet.

For context, the time limit and version history play an important role here. They help protect the integrity of the conversation and create a publicly accessible record of what was said. Twitter did share a screenshot that shows how an edited Tweet will look to other users.
