WhatsApp Introduces Easier Status Privacy Settings on Android

WhatsApp introduced a feature called Status in 2017, enabling users to share texts, emojis, photos, and more with their contacts for 24 hours. Users could decide who would see their updates using the Status Privacy setting, which allowed them to share their status with all contacts, only certain contacts, or everyone except a few.

Last month, WhatsApp Beta for iOS added a small popup that made it easier to adjust the Status Privacy setting before posting a new status. Now, WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.24.12.27) is testing the same feature. Therefore, it might be released very soon for Android users, too.

This new popup reminds users of their current privacy settings and helps them change who can see their updates without having to go through the settings menu. This makes it easier to ensure they are sharing their updates with the right audience.

For those who are part of the beta program, this feature might already be available. Otherwise, it will hit more testers soon. As for when it will eventually go live for all users, no specific date has been made known yet, but WhatsApp will likely announce it once they feel ready.
