Memorials held in Canada for victims of Iran Plane crash

According to reports there have been memorials held in Canada across the country grieving the lives of all those who died in the Iran Plane crash when the plane was shot down by Iran.

The plane was carrying 176 passengers including 57 Canadians all of whom lost their lives. Most of the Canadians were of Iranian descent.

A memorial ceremony was held in Toronto, Canada for the victims. The memorial ceremony was attended by almost 2000 people.

This memorial ceremony in Toronto, Canada was organized by the cross culture Iranian-Canadian charity, Tirgan.

The incident happened after Iran earlier shot down a Ukrainian passenger plane killing all 176 people on board. Iran said that it was a “mistake” and a “human error” and they thought that the plane was a hostile aircraft amid the tensions with the US after the killing of their military leader, General Soleimani.

The plane was heading to the Ukrainian capital of Kiev when it was shot down killing all 167 passengers and nine crew members.

One of the memorials was held in Edmonton and was attended by almost 2300 people including Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.

According to reports, 13 victims of the plane crash lived in the city where this memorial was held and was attended by their relatives.

Trudeau told the everyone attending:

This tragedy should never have occurred,

We will not rest until there are answers. We will not rest until there is justice and accountability.

Reza Akbari, the president of the Iranian Heritage Society of Edmonton said:

The community is unbelievable. The people feel the whole of Canada is hugging them,

According to reports, funds are being raised by the Iranian community in Edmonton to pay for the funerals and expenses for the families of the victims.
