Pakistan Condemns Assassination of Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan expressed deep shock and condemnation on Wednesday following the assassination of Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. The timing of this reckless act has left many in disbelief.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson declared, “Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including extrajudicial and extraterritorial killings, irrespective of the motives.” The statement underscored Pakistan’s strong stance against terrorism.

Pakistan extended heartfelt condolences to Haniyeh’s family and the people of Palestine. “We are deeply shocked by the timing of this reckless act, coinciding with the inauguration of the President of Iran, an event attended by several foreign dignitaries, including the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan,” the ministry said.

Calling out Israel for the attack, Pakistan expressed serious concern over the growing Israeli adventurism in the region. “Its latest acts constitute a dangerous escalation in an already volatile region and undermine efforts for peace,” the statement added.

Haniyeh, a prominent leader of the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, was in Iran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the reformist president, Masoud Pezeshkian. The attack took place at his residence, resulting in his death.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed after their residence in Tehran was targeted. The state-run news agency IRNA reported that Haniyeh was attacked by an airborne guided projectile that struck a house in the north of Tehran around 2 a.m. local time.

Hello! My name is Farhan Abro, and I'm based here in Islamabad. My journey in Pakistan's digital media really kicked off when I founded INCPak back in 2012. We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
