James Bond star Sean Connery passes away at 90

The Scottish actor Sir Sean Connery, who shot to fame with his portrayal of James Bond, has passed away at the age of 90 on Saturday according to his family.

The actor was also known for films like The Hunt for Red October, Indiana Jones, the Last Crusade and especially The Untouchables for which he scored an Oscar award in 1988.

Connery is regarded as the best actor to have given life to the character of James Bond 007 in the iconic franchise spanning seven movies.

Sean Connery won several other awards during this decades long career which included two Bafta awards and three Golden Globes.

He was also knighted by the Queen Elizabeth at the Holyrood Palace in 2000.

The actor passed away overnight in his sleep, while in the Bahamas and the exact cause of death is still unknown. However, the star had been unwell for some time now.

Sean Connery is survived by his son Jason Connery.
