Ghandhara Industries Limited (GIL) is planning to introduce Chery SUVs in Pakistan, including the Chery Tiggo 8, a seven-seater mid-sized crossover SUV.
According to a reports, Ghandhara Industries Limited (GIL) is working on signing a deal with the Chinese automaker to distribute and manufacture its SUVs in Pakistan.
One of these will be the Chery Tiggo 8, a very popular crossover SUV in the Chinese market which will provide a tough competition to the Hyundai Tucson, KIA Sportage, MG HS, Proton X70 and Glory 580 Pro, vehicles which are already available in the market.
Pakistan has been an influx of different automotive companies entering the market taking advantage of the Auto Development Policy (ADP) 2016-21, which was launched by the Federal Government to attract foreign investment and create competition in the auto-sector.
Engine and Transmission
The Chery Tiggo 8 comes in two engine variants which includes a 1.5L turbocharged engine capable of producing 144 horsepower (hp) and 210 Newton metres (Nm) of torque coupled with both a manual and an automatic Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) system.
The other variant includes a 2.0L turbocharged engine, producing an impressive 167hp along with 250Nm of torque while equipped with an automatic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) system.

Chery Tiggo 8 Price in Pakistan
There are currently no confirmations regarding price of exact features of the Tiggo 8 that is expected to launch in Pakistan. We will have to wait for an official announcement by the company once things get rolling.
In 2015, Chery has previously made an attempt to enter the Pakistani automotive market with its Chery QQ. However, the company failed to compete with Suzuki, which was dominating the small hatchback segment with Mehran at the time.
However, the automotive industry dynamics have changed with more and more companies making an entrance in the automotive sector in Pakistan.
