The hike comes into effect starting with January 2021 bills and applies to consumers of all power distribution companies (DISCOs), except K-Electric and Life Line Customers.

NEPRA said that the adjustments shall be shown separately in the consumers’ bill on the basis of units billed during the months of October and November in 2020 by ex-Wapda Distribution Comapanies (XWDISCOs).

The latest hike in power tariff would likely impose an additional burden of Rs. 8.40 billion on consumers, according to sources.

It is pertinent to mention that earlier NEPRA increased the electricity price by Rs. 1.11 per unit on 14th December 2020 on account of Fuel Charge Adjustment for the month of September that year.
