Twitter has been trending with hashtag #ResignShafqatMahmood as Cambridge students share their concern over O and A Level exams, which have been postponed to the October / November session.

The Federal Government announced that all exams in the country have been cancelled, including the Cambridge O and A Level examination which started on Monday, and postponed until 15 June 2021 in case of local board exams.

The decision was taken due to worsening coronavirus situation in the country and the violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) that was observed outside the Cambridge examination centers.

Shafqat Mehmood has responded to a student’s query about the 13 months limit for completing their exams in the case of AS Level students and confirmed that he has asked Cambridge to “finish the 13 month limit.”

However, there is still no confirmation regarding Teacher Assessed Grades (TAGs) for A2 Level students, who are still being forced to appear for exams by Cambridge during these times when COVID-19 is spreading like wildfire across the country.

This has resulted in students taking to social media and asking Shafqat Mehmood to demand Cambridge to allow Teacher Assessed Grades (TAGs) or else resign from his position of Federal Education Minister for failing the students.

Here are some of the tweets being posted by Cambridge students demanding TAGs:
