The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Monday, which was chaired by Federal Minister for Development Asad Umar. The meeting discussed the current situation of the country and expressed concern over the sharp increase in COVID-19 cases being reported in major cities.

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) decided to ban unvaccinated passengers from travelling via train from 1 October 2021 unless they get immunized against the deadly virus.

It is pertinent to mention the country is currently battling the fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic. In the last 24 hours, Pakistan has reported over 4,000 new cases and 68 deaths.

Yesterday, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister Dr Faisal Sultan tweeted that citizens do not have to wait for the reminder SMS from 1166 for their second dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

“You can get the second dose of the vaccine ANYTIME after the minimum time interval has elapsed,” said the SAPM.
