NCOC Shuts Down Operations As COVID-19 Indicators Hit ‘All Time Low’

The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) will be shutting down its operations on Thursday as the country’s COVID-19 pandemic indicators have touched an all-time low. The announcement was made by the Head of the NCOC, Asad Umar on Twitter.

“Today is last day of NCOC operation.” he said in his Tweet. “With COVID indicators at all time lows & high level of vaccination, baton now being passed on to health ministry.” He added that chairing the NCOC during the last two years and working with the ‘dedicated team’ had been the greatest ‘privilege and honor’ of his life.

In another tweet, he said that Pakistan has been able to overcome this unprecedented challenge with ‘Allah’s mercy and support’ and it makes him immensely proud as a Pakistani that the nation has received praise for its COVID-19 response as one of the most successful in the world.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also tweeted about the matter, saying, “Today, as NCOC closes down, I want to congratulate the NCOC team & it’s leadership for a professional, nationally-coordinated response to the pandemic. As a result our COVID response was recognized by [international] agencies & people in the field as one of the most successful globally.”
