The premier visited the Peshawar Mor Metro Bus Station and reviewed the on-ground progress of the project. He also ordered an inquiry into the delay in the launch of the Metro Bus Service from Peshawar Mor to New Islamabad Airport as the project has been pending for the last four years.

It is pertinent to mention that Islamabad Metro Bus Service was launched by Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his tenure in 2017 and it was due to become functional by 2018. However, the project was delayed after the PTI Government took control and has been pending since.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to start operations of Metro Bus Service from Peshawar Mor to New Islamabad Airport to facilitate passengers travelling towards the airport. He has also noted that the Metro Bus Service should have facility for carry luggage and ordered the establishment of a Metro Bus Station on the motorway.

He also ordered a feasibility study as per the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority rules for two additional routes, namely from Rawat and Bhara Kahu connecting passengers to the airport. Furthermore, he said that the service should run free of cost for the trial period until the installation of ticketing machines is completed.

The Metro Bus Service from Peshawar Mor to New Islamabad Airport will be made partially operational from April 16 with fifteen buses being taken from the Punjab Metro Bus Authority, while the buses for this project will arrive by May 5. The premier has also ordered an inquiry into the delay in the project, which has led to the cost of national wealth.

It bears mentioning that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had ordered to make the Islamabad Metro Bus Service operational within five days.
