UAE's NCEMA Issues Public Advisory Due to Unstable Weather

In the face of a stormy event like heavy rains or even thunderstorms, the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) points out the need for cooperation between the people and official bodies. They single out the necessity of interconnection and respond immediately to maintain the safety of the population and reduce the risks.

The cooperation between individuals and official authorities, along with responsive measures taken by these authorities, is the key factor in ensuring public safety and minimizing risks and damages. Here are the safety guidelines based on the expected weather conditions. pic.twitter.com/lpnSQ4eo7c

NCEMA suggests that the public should be mindful, especially while heavy rain is on the way, and that they should avoid outdoor activities that are not necessary. It is recommended to stay home and try to keep away from sites where water collects. Parents are advised to delay or avoid outdoor activities for their children’s safety, and they should keep their children indoors.

People must not venture into regions that have been hit by floods, and they should not use roads that are flooded. Furthermore, activities near the riverbeds and the dams should be limited to avoid the risk of drowning from the rising water.

When it comes to strong winds, outdoor activities may be too risky, so you ought to avoid such activities. Keep your distance from billboards, trees, and other objects that could be knocked down due to strong winds. It is also recommended to close windows, doors, and openings openings control the effects of a storm.

While the threat of an accident is much higher during a thunderstorm, people should not use their phones, especially outdoors, to reduce the chance of being hit by lightning. The NCEMA asserts that trusted weather forecasts from official sources should be the only sources to be depended on, not the misinformation on social media. It should be noted that you need to rely only on the information provided by trustworthy sources.
