The Public Prosecution issued a warning via social media against soliciting donations without proper licensing. Those found managing websites or using electronic means to promote unlicensed donation collections can face fines and potential imprisonment. Licensed entities are prohibited from publishing, broadcasting, or promoting fundraising materials without approval from designated authorities, as stipulated in Federal Decree Law No. 34 of 2021 combatting rumors and cybercrimes.

The law distinguishes between two types of charity entities: licensed and authorized entities established by laws or decisions to handle donations, and entities permitted to collect donations and fundraise through listed charitable organizations in the UAE. Violators may be subject to imprisonment and fines ranging from Dh200,000 to Dh500,000 or both penalties, as determined by the court.
