Sindh to Launch Kisan Card for Farmers

The Sindh Cabinet has announced to launch the Kisan Card for farmers to fulfil the promise made by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during the party’s election campaign. The Chief Minister issued directives for the issuance of Kisan Card to famers in the province as well as preparing a clear plan to carry out development initiatives across all districts. In this regard, Chief Minister Murad constituted a committee with Minister of Irrigation, SMBR, and Secretary of Agriculture to start working on the initiative and submit their recommendations.

As per the Chief Minister, the Kisan Card will be issued to farmers benefiting from various Sindh government programmes. Furthermore, the program aims to organize recipient information to ensure clear and effective delivery of these interventions.

In order to streamline the process, the Sindh government will launch a digital platform and provide user logins to all district administrations to enter the details of farmers in their jurisdiction. The digitalization will help to ensure proper allocation of schemes to the right farmers and make it easy to broadcast messages.

Eligibility for Kisan Card

According to the details, a farmer in possession of up to 12 acres of land that is being cultivated by him / herself would qualify for the Kisan Card Program, for which a survey and registration would be started in a week by the concerned department.

Furthermore, the issuance of the Kisan Card will start within six months.

It is pertinent to mention that the Kisan Card Program was part of the promises made by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto during his election campaign to provide relief to the farmers in Sindh.
