The Government of Punjab School Education Department has issued a notification directing all schools in the province—both public and private—to remain closed on Friday, 9th May 2025 , and Saturday, 10th May 2025 . This decision was made following approval by the Competent Authority.
However, examinations scheduled for these dates on behalf of international examining bodies (O-Level and A-Level) will continue as planned.
The department emphasized that Chief Executive Officers (DEAs) must ensure strict compliance with these orders.
The closure order applies uniformly across Punjab, impacting educational institutions statewide. While regular classes and activities will be suspended during this period, international exams will proceed without interruption to avoid disrupting students’ academic schedules.
The notification further directs various officials within the education department to disseminate the information widely and take necessary action. Key recipients include Deputy Commissioners, Directors of Public Instructions, Heads of Attached Departments, and other relevant personnel. Additionally, the Deputy Director (Monitoring) has been tasked with uploading the official notification on the department’s official website for transparency and accessibility.
Schools are advised to inform their staff and students about the closure schedule promptly. Parents and guardians are encouraged to stay updated through official channels to avoid any confusion or inconvenience.

This measure reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring smooth operations while addressing specific administrative requirements. The department reassures stakeholders that it remains dedicated to maintaining the continuity of essential educational processes, particularly for international assessments.
