Dubai unleashes 500,000 fireworks sets new world record

Dubai has ushered in the new year with a huge fireworks spectacle which it hopes will break the world record for the largest fireworks show ever.

The city’s seashore was lit up with a soaring falcon made out of fireworks that moved over a huge man-made palm-shaped island beside a countdown in fireworks.

The backdrop to the fiery show was the world’s biggest tower, the 828-metre high Burj Khalifa.

coordinators said they wanted to create a blew of lightweight out of fireworks to imitate a sunrise and dazzle spectators with a joined Arab Emirates flag that could furthermore shatter records for being the biggest ever made of fireworks.

The six-minute extravaganza was said to include 500,000 fireworks from 400 blasting positions, all synchronised by 100 computers from positions over the town.

The fireworks brandish was slated to surpass the present world record held by another Gulf Arab state in just the first 60 seconds.

Kuwait has held the record since last year when it discharged more than 77,000 fireworks in a brandish that lasted more than an hour.

Guinness World Record agents were on hand to measure the scale of the event and to rule on whether the world record had indeed been broken.

Farhan Abro

Hello! My name is Farhan Abro, and I'm based here in Islamabad. My journey in Pakistan's digital media really kicked off when I founded INCPak back in 2012. We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
