Israelis call for end to war on Gaza

Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets in two major Israeli cities to call for an end to the Tel Aviv regime’s war on the besieged Gaza Strip, which has killed dozens of civilians and wounded many more over the recent days.

On Saturday, violent clashes broke out between Israeli security forces and pro-Palestinian demonstrators in Israel’s northern port city of Haifa, located about 90 kilometers (56 miles) north of Tel Aviv.

An unspecified number of demonstrators were injured and at least 30 others arrested during the scuffles with the police.

Elsewhere in Israel, thousands of protesters marched through Tel Aviv to show their outrage at the Israeli military’s attacks on the besieged population of Gaza.

The developments came on the same day as many Londoners demanded justice and freedom for the people of Palestine, condemned Israel’s onslaught on Gaza and voiced their resentment at the mainstream media’s biased coverage of the events in Gaza.

On Friday, scores of Indonesian demonstrators also gathered in front of the US embassy in Jakarta, censuring Israel’s offensive against Gaza. The protesters waved placards and Palestinian flags, demanding an end to Israel’s military action against Palestinians in the impoverished coastal sliver.

Turkish protesters also gathered outside the Israeli consulate in Istanbul on Friday to protest against Israel’s brutal offensive against the Gaza Strip. According to local media reports, the demonstrators threw stones at the consulate and shouted “Murderer Israel, get out of Palestine.”

Moreover, Turkish protesters threw rocks and waved Palestinian flags outside the Israeli embassy in the capital, Ankara, on Friday. Windows of the building were reported to have been broken.

More than 340 people, including women and children, have been killed and nearly 2,400 injured since Tel Aviv unleashed its offensive 12 days ago. According to the Gaza-based Palestinian Center for Human Rights, more than three-quarters of the victims are civilians.

Gazan homes, mosques and schools are also being targeted by the Israeli army.
