Egypt’s Former President Mohamed Morsi dies in court

CAIRO: The Former President Mohamed Morsi has died after appearing in a court in Cairo on Monday, State media reports.

Mohammed Morsi, Egypt’s former president has died in court. He reportedly fainted and subsequently died after a court session where he was facing espionage charges following his ouster in 2013. He was 67.

“He was speaking before the judge for 20 minutes then became very animated and fainted. He was quickly rushed to the hospital where he later died,” a judicial source said.

Morsi served just for a year of a four-year term.

The deceased former president, Mohamed Morsi was facing six trials and had been behind the bars for six years and was serving 20 years prison sentence for a conviction arising from the killing of protesters during a demonstration in 2012.
