Sindh rejects Karachi Committee and Article 149

KARACHI: Federal Law Minister hints the federation is intending to invoke Article 149 (4) to take administrative control of Karachi from Sindh Government.

Governor Sindh Imran Ismail told media that there were too many authorities in Karachi, due to which issues were not resolved. He had said that his party wanted a single authority in Karachi.

Federal Government has failed to resolve the issues of Karachi recently Maritime Minister Ali Zaidi’s Clean Karachi Campaign failed due to lack of funds and eventually donation account was formed to keep the campaign running.

Article 149 – The Constitution of Pakistan

“The executive authority of every Province shall be so exercised as not to impede or prejudice the exercise of the executive authority of the Federation, and the executive authority of the Federation shall extend to the giving of such directions to a Province as may appear to the Federal Government to be necessary for that purpose,” reads Article 149 of the constitution.

“The executive authority of the Federation shall also extend to the giving of directions to a Province as to the construction and maintenance of means of communication declared in the direction to be of national or strategic importance.”

“The executive authority of the Federation shall also extend to the giving of directions to a Province as to the manner in which the executive authority thereof is to be exercised for the purpose of preventing any grave menace to the peace or tranquillity or economic life of Pakistan or any part thereof,” reads the article.

MQM Pakistan every now and then demands for a seperate province, if not at least administrative powers of Urban Sindh which includes The Financial Hub of Pakistan ‘Karachi’

Since last a decades Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) ruling Sindh and MQM Pakistan (MQM-P) ruling Karachi.

    PPPP leader corrupted and looted Pakistan, specially Karachi.

    PPPP also unable to solve problems of karachi.
    Just speak much, do nothing.

    KARACHI have to handover to federal government or make separate province of PAKISTAN.
