Punjab lifts Eid ul Azha lockdown, earlier restrictions remain

LAHORE: The Government of Punjab has lifted the Eid ul Azha lockdown which was suppose to end on 5 August 2020, allowing businesses to continue operating in the province according to the notification issued by the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department.

However, the Government of Punjab has extended the smart lockdown in the province till 17 August 2020 according to the notification.

According to the notification the following shall remain closed:

  • All Educational and training institutions, Marriage halls, Business centers, Expo Halls, Restaurants (except takeaways & home delivery), Theme/ amusement parks, Play Areas and arcades, Beauty Parlors and Spas, Cinemas and Theaters shall remain closed.
  • There will also be a complete ban on “Sporting tournaments/ matches (Indoor and outdoor) except non-contact professional sports without spectators”. All contact sports & indoor sports clubs/facilities shall remain closed.
  • There shall also be a complete ban on gatherings of all kinds for social, religious, or any other purpose at any place, public or private.

Businesses including factories, facilities, premises, retail shops, shopping malls and plazas are allowed to operated under standard operating procedures (SOPs) from 9AM to 7PM from Monday through Friday with a complete lockdown being observed on Saturday and Sunday.

However following businesses will be allowed to operate on Saturday and Sunday:

Inter city and Inter-district public transport24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Grocery Stores and Karyana Stores9:00AM to 7:00PM, 7 days a week
Churches7;00AM to 5:00PM, Sundays only
Gatherings of all kinds to express solidarity with Kashmiris only under the supervision of respective District administrations and Law Enforcement Agencies after adopting complete SOPS5th August 2020 only
