Punjab Officially Extends Winter Vacations For Colleges

The Government of Punjab has officially extended the winter vacations for colleges across the province by one week amid drop in temperature and orders of the Lahore High Court (LHC) over concerns regarding the increasing threat of smog.

“It is hereby notified that in all Higher Education Institutions (HEDs) both public and private under jurisdiction of Higher Education Department Punjab, winter vacations are hereby extended w.e.f 02-01-2023 to 08-01-2023.” the Higher Education Department (HED) said in a notification.

The notification added that all colleges (public and private) shall re-open on Monday, 9th January 2023, and resume a full / normal week for all classes. Meanwhile, all examinations shall be held as per the notified schedule of Boards and Universities.

Furthermore, the School Education Department (SED) of Punjab is likely to issue a notification regarding the extension of winter vacations as well. However, it must be noted that another notification by the SED that is being circulating on social media is fake.

The School Education Department of Punjab is yet to issue an official notification regarding winter vacations being extended in the province.

Earlier, the SED and HED had announced winter vacations across the province of Punjab from December 24 to 31, 2022, with educational institutes reopening from 2 January 2023 to resume a normal week for all classes.
