Under the leadership of Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has introduced a new service that allows citizens to acquire their driving license and learner permit from the comfort of their homes.

To begin with, it’s important to emphasize that a valid driving license is absolutely essential for legally operating any motorized vehicle in Punjab. Not only must drivers meet the minimum age requirement of 18 years, but they must also obtain their license through the official Driving License Issuance and Management System (DLIMS).

Furthermore, this digital system was specifically developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to streamline the licensing process. Therefore, all prospective drivers should be aware that without proper certification from DLIMS, they cannot legally drive on Punjab’s roads.

These activities are carried out throughout the province of Punjab. How to Apply for Driving License in Punjab?

The following steps outline the process of applying for a driving license in Punjab:

• Download and fill out the required license from the link in this post.
• Gather required documents
• Submit an application at your nearest license center and obtain a learner’s permit.
• Visit the licensing center again after 42 days of the learning period.
• Pass the initial theoretical test.
• Pass the final driving test.

Note: You are not required to give any test in case you are applying to renew your license or get a duplicate license.

Step 2: Required Documents

You are required to submit different documents when applying for a driving license in Punjab.

Required Documents for Learner License

• A copy of C.N.I.C
• A ticket of Rs.60 from any post office.
• Get a code book of traffic rules & regulations from the traffic police office.
• Medical Certificate (by Authorized Medical Practitioner)

It is pertinent to mention that the following age limits are set in place when applying for a learner license in Punjab.

• Motorcycle/Motor Car: 18 Years
• LTV (Rikshaw, Taxi, Tractor Commercial): 21 Years

• Original learner permit of at least 6 weeks.
• Medical Certificate
• 3 Passport size fresh photographs (Attested)
• An attested copy of C.N.I.C.
• Paste a ticket of the mentioned fee on the license document.
• Slip to deposit Rs. 100 in any branch of Habib Bank with Account Number 01277901547301 (Only for Lahore)

1. Regular License (New Issuance)

Notes:

• Licenses can be issued for 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 years (highest category fee applies for combined licenses).
• Courier fee is fixed at PKR 480 for all categories 

2. Regular License Renewal

Notes:

• If the original license is unavailable during renewal, a duplicate fee is added.

3. Duplicate License

Note: Highest category fee applies for combined licenses.

4. International License

Note: Fees are cumulative for multi-year licenses.

• An attested copy of C.N.I.C.
• A copy of Valid Driving License
• A copy of Pakistani Passport valid
• 2 attested photo graph (Passport Size)

Note: Applicant will bring his original C.N.I.C, Driving License and Passport with him.

Required Documents for Duplicate License

• An attested copy of C.N.I.C.
• 2 Attested fresh Photographs (Passport size).
• Report from Computer section which expresses the expiry date of license.
• FIR (Lost License report) of the Police Station.
• Tickets will be pasted according to the schedule.

Duplicate License Fee

• Ticket of Rs.150/-
• Rs. 180/- on STR form have to be deposited in the branch after passing the test.
