PTM leader Arif Wazir dies in hospital after being shot

Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) leader Arif Wazir has died in a hospital in Islamabad after a drive by shooting at his home in Wana, South Waziristan, that left him with life threatening injuries.

Arif Wazir passed away after he was shifted to Islamabad for treatment according to Wana Station House Officer (SHO) Usman Khan.

Based on a report by Dawn, an official told them that Wazir was strolling outside his residence when there was a drive by shooting that left him with life threatening injuries.

He was first taken to the District headquarters Hospital in Wana however, later he was shifted to Islamabad Hospital. where he passed away.

The deceased was the first cousin of MNA Ali Wazir who makes headlines from time to time for his anti-military news and over seven of their family members had died in 2007 after a clash with militants.

Amnesty International South Asia also made a tweet about the incident saying that a thorough investigation needs to be conducted and the perpetrators brought to justice.
