ISLAMABAD: Minister for Water and Power Development Authority Faisal Vawda reacts on ‘Sin Tax’ on Tobacco products.

Faisal Vawda tweets:

WAPDA Minister Faisal Vawda admits he is a chain smoker but terming “Gunnah Tax” or ‘Sin Tax’ is inappropriate. 

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Led Government appears to be confused about selecting the appropriate name for Tobacco and Sugary beverages tax.

Although majority of the people appreciate the Government’s stance to impose heavy tax on Tobacco Products and Sugary beverages” but critizing government on giving the title of ‘SIN TAX’ makes no sense.

If the Government is serious about health and wants to impose tax on tobacco products and Beverages, it shouldn’t be less than 100% to discourage people from smoking, once for all. 

Dear Government please come up with a better name.
