Islamabad Traffic Plan For 9 Muharram (8 August 2022)

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a detailed Traffic Plan for 9 Muharram, which is going to be observed on Monday (8 August 2022).

According to the Islamabad Traffic Plan for Monday (8 August 2022), the authorities have closed several roads along the route of processions for 9 Muharram-ul-Haram.

The Traffic Plan has been issued for the G-6 (Police Station Aabpara) and I-10 (Sabzi Mandi) areas.

Islamabad Traffic Plan (G-9 PS Aabpara)

According to the Islamabad Traffic Plan, the first procession for 9 Muharram-ul-Haram is going to take place from 1:00PM to 6:30PM and it will commence from G-6/2 Imambargah go towards Luqman Hakeem Road, G-6 Service Road, Saddar Road and take a right towards Street 33 and a left towards Street 40 and turn left again towards Municipal Road, Melody Chowk, Shuhada Chowk, Police Station Aabpara, Poly Clinic and end at G-6 Imambargah.

The roads along the route of processions will remain closed from 8:00AM in the morning till 8:00PM at night and commuters are requested to follow the diversions and alternate routes.

Diversions and Alternate Routes

Roads leading towards Kalsoom Plaza, Fazal-e-Haq Road, and China Chowk will remain closed on both sides, while commuters are requested to use Jinnah Avenue as the alternate route from Kalsoom Plaza towards China Chowk. Furthermore, G-6 Post Office, Service Road will also remain closed but commuters can use 7th Avenue as the alternate route.

Meanwhile, Saddar Road will remain closed from Iqbal Chowk till Melody Chowk, while commuters will be able to use Aabpara Soharwardi Road for traveling during 9 Muharram processions. Moreover, Municipal Road will remain closed from Lal Masjid to Shuhada Chowk GPO and road Luqman Hakeem Road will remain completely closed from Poly Clinic towards Iqbal Hall, while commuters can travel from Kalsoom Plaza towards Chand Tara Chowk by using 7th Avenue One-Way Road and Shaheed-e-Millat Road.

Islamabad Traffic Plan (I-10 Sabzi Mandi)

The second procession will start from Mosa Kazim Imambargah in Sector I-10 and diversion points are placed along I-10 Markaz Side, CDA Chowk No 1, Katarian Pull, Main IJP Road, Pirwadhai Side, and IJP Road Faizabad Side. Meanwhile, the commuters going from I-10 Sabzi Mandi towards Faizabad, Murree Road, Bara Kahu, Khanna Pull, and Airport will use IJP Road, while residents of Katarian, Faizabad, I-8, and I-9 will use IJP Road or Pirwadhai Road.
