Former CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry’s son-in-law arrested from Dubai

ISLAMABAD – The Minister of Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain told media that son-in-law of former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, Murtaza Amjad has been arrested from Dubai by FIA.

Murtaza Amjad has been arrested in connection with multi-billion fraud in Eden Housing Society in Lahore.

Talking to the media outside Parliament House, Fawad Chaudhary said that the scam had surfaced during the tenure of Iftikhar Chaudhry as Chief Justice, who deliberately gave the relief to the accused.

the Criminal proceedings were initiated again them by the The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over the charges of depriving thousands of affectees, worth billions of rupees.

The Minister said The Prime minister has sought a report about the other accused included the son of former chief justice Arsalan Iftikhar and his daughter and her father-in-law Dr Amjad who is the owner of the Eden Housing Society.

The arrest of  Murtaza Amjad clears any doubt that government is serious in the process of accountability.
