Motorway Police Announces Hefty Increase in Fines

The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) has announced a massive increase in fines for various rule violations. These rule violations include over-speeding, performing stunts, driving without a helmet, and using High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lights on roads under the jurisdiction of the NHMP.

According to the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP), the new fines will be enforced starting January 1, 2024.

New Motorway Fines

According to the details, anyone using High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lights on roads under the jurisdiction of the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) will be fined Rs. 2,000, an increase of Rs. 1,700 from the previous penalty of Rs. 300.

Similarly, those engaging in dangerous stunts will be fined Rs. 5,000, a jump of Rs. 4,700 from the previous penalty of Rs. 300. Furthermore, a fine of Rs. 1,000, up from Rs. 200, has been implemented for motorcyclists riding without a helmet in order to promote use of protective gear for two-wheelers.

The NHMP has also announced a massive fine of Rs. 5,000 for passenger vehicles exceeding the prescribed passenger limit, a jump of Rs. 3,500 from the previous penalty of Rs. 1,500.

Meanwhile, the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) has massively increased the fine for over-speeding for all vehicles with a penalty of Rs. 1,500 for motorcycles, Rs. 2,500 for cars, Rs. 10,000 for passenger vehicles (buses), and Rs. 5,000 for Heavy Transport Vehicles (HTVs).

The increased fines are aimed at enhancing road safety and ensure strict compliance to traffic regulations on highways and motorways across the country.
