COVID-19 patients can decide to isolate at home or center: Sindh Govt

The Sindh Home Department has issued a notification stating that coronavirus patients can decide whether they want to isolate at home or an isolation center.

The decision comes after patients were being forcefully shifted to isolation centers or field hospitals causing inconvenience to them and their families despite having the proper space for isolation at home.

The advisory states the following:

  • Every COVID-19 positive cases shall be at his / her liberty to be isolated either at Home or Isolation Center.
  • None shall be forcefully shifted to Isolation Center, if proper space is available in his / her residence and the patient or the family members agree to his / her home isolation.
  • COVID-19 positive patient is found to strictly observe the SOPs narrated / explained by the Health Care Providers for the Home Isolation. In case of any violation that exposes community to the infection, then the patient shall be shifted to Isolation Center.

Although the last point states that those patients deciding to isolate at home rather than the isolation center need to strictly observe the standard operating procedures (SOPs) otherwise they can be forcefully shifted to the center if others are put at risk.
