Pervez Elahi was not spared amid the violence at the Punjab Assembly and became a target of violence as well, which left the Speaker was bruised and bloodied. Pervez Elahi was beaten by the PML-N lawmakers and as a result he suffered several injuries.
“They have rewarded me well in return for my goodness,” said Elahi as he got his wounds bandaged after the attack. “Has this ever happened to any speaker before,” he asked, adding that everything was pre-planned. He said that they had crossed all lines today in trying to manhandle me.
Pervez Elahi said that the courts are not for the poor and he will ask for justice from God. He alleged that Hamza Shehbaz was giving orders to hit the members, adding that he took care of him while his family was in exile.
It is pertinent to mention that earlier in the day, the PTI members also attacked the Deputy Speaker Dost Mohammad Mazari after throwing ‘LOTAS’ at him. The Punjab Assembly has been in complete chaos all day and the session has been unable to complete.
