Sindh Announces Public Holiday in Karachi & Hyderabad on 26 July 2022

The Government of Sindh has announced a public holiday in Karachi and Hyderabad on 26 July 2022 (Tuesday) due to heavy rainfall. According to the details, the announcement comes as relentless rain continues in both cities causing urban flooding and power outages in several areas.

“In wake of torrential monsoon rains, the Government of Sindh declares Monday, 26th July, 2022 as public holiday, throughout Karachi and Hyderabad Divisions only,” said the notification. However, it added that there will be an exception for the essential services and departments/entities engaged in rain emergency and COVID-19 emergency duties.

Furthermore, the notification advised private sector in Karachi and Hyderabad Divisions to keep businesses closed during public holiday on 26 July 2022 (Tuesday) keeping in view the safety of the general public.

The heavy monsoon rain spell has left most areas in Karachi and Hyderabad submerged in water along with power and telecommunication outages. Furthermore, there have been several deaths reported in both cities as well.
