Traffic Alert: Temporary Closure of M-2 Motorway on March 1 and 2

The Motorway M-2 will remain temporarily closed on March 1 and 2, 2024, due to installation of a 220 kW electricity wire. According to the details, the traffic will be operated with few gaps from 10 am to 12 pm in the vicinity of Sheikhupura. Furthermore, the traffic will be blocked from both sides for 15 minutes on and off.

Please plan your travel accordingly, as the Motorway M-2 will undergo temporary closure for the installation of crucial infrastructure. Motorists are advised to check for the latest updates on social media handles of the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP).

Furthermore, the M-TAG has been made mandatory for entering any motorway across Pakistan. The decision has been made in order to reduce long queues of vehicles at the Motorway Toll Plaza and curb the resulting air pollution from vehicles.

An M-Tag is a prepaid RFID tag that is applied to a vehicle’s front windscreen to be scanned at by RFID readers at Toll Plazas.
