Iran mistakenly shot down Ukrainian Airliner: Rouhani

TEHRAN: Iranian Authorities has announced that it ‘unintentionally’ shot down a Ukrainian airliner last week on Wednesday killing all 176 people on board.

In a statement, Iran’s General Staff of the armed forces took the responsibility for Iran Plane Crash, called it a “Human Error” and apologized for mistakenly shooting the plane by IRGC forces. Also promised to make proper changes to make repeating such errors impossible.

Iranian Supremo in his tweet regrets that “missile fired due to human error caused the horrific crash of the Ukrainian plane and the death of 176 innocent people. The Investigation continues to identify & prosecute this great tragedy and unforgivable mistake.”

The ill-fated Ukrainian plane took off early on Wednesday and heard to the Ukraine capital of Kiev.

There were 176 passengers on board the flight including the nine crew members. Nobody survived the crash.

The flight had 82 Iranians, 63 Canadians, 11 Ukrainians (including the nine crew), 10 Swedes, 4 Afghans, 3 Britons, and 3 Germans according to Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Vadym Prystaiko confirmed the news.
