British boxer of Pakistani origin, Amir Khan, has been arrested after allegedly beating two teenagers in a street fight.

According to British media reports, the 27-year-old former world champion and Olympic silver medalist was arrested in the early hours of this morning after an incident in Russell Street, Heaton, as his alleged victims were returning from a nearby mosque.

Police said the two men were hurt but not seriously injured in the incident.

One of the reports quoted an eyewitness as saying that the alleged attack happened after Amir pulled up alongside the group of men in a Mercedes C Class in front of Velden Engineering.

According to eyewitnesses the fight started after a member of the group was accused of ‘giving cheek’ to one of Khan’s friends.

Another man claimed that: ‘Amir was saying don’t you know who I am, I am AK.

Khan was later released on bail.
