Kiernan Forbes, one of South Africa’s most popular rappers, popularly known as AKA, was shot dead outside a restaurant in the coastal city of Durban, along with a friend, his family confirmed in a statement.
According to the details, Kiernan Forbes, known by his stage name ‘AKA’ was killed alongside his close friend, chef and entrepreneur, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, as they were walking towards their car from a restaurant.
“It is with extreme sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our beloved son, and confirm his untimely and tragic passing on the evening of February 10, 2023.” said the family in a statement. “We thank you for the love and support we have received thus far, and ask you continue to keep us in your prayers and uplifted in the Lord.” they added.

The 35-year-old singer was the most popular rapper in South Africa and won the South African Awards, was nominated several times for a Black Entertainment Television (BET) Award in the United States, and was once nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award.
