In a collaborative effort with the district administration and police, a joint task force led by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) initiated a decisive action against five illegal housing schemes on Thursday.
The illegal housing schemes included Green Hawks (Hartus Floare Farm), Sighu Farm House on Chontra to Chak Beli Khan Road, Al Khan Enclave, Aurora Housing Scheme, and Wah Residencia in Taxila.
During the extensive operation, the joint task force, armed with the support of local authorities, demolished site offices, road infrastructure, electric poles, billboards, and a security room associated with the unauthorized housing schemes. The operation is part of an ongoing effort by the task force following the directives of the Divisional Intelligence Committee to curb illegal housing schemes.
Saif Anwar Jappa, the Director General of RDA, highlighted that comprehensive and indiscriminate operations against all illegal societies will persist, aligning with the orders of Commissioner Rawalpindi. The crackdown stems from public complaints regarding the unlawful possession of land by the owners of these illegal housing schemes.
Jappa sternly warned of strict actions against those found illegally occupying lands and urged the general public to invest in RDA approved housing schemes exclusively. In a proactive measure, notices were issued to the owners and sponsors of the five illegal housing schemes ahead of the operation, ensuring transparency in the enforcement process.
The joint task force aims to maintain the integrity of authorized housing developments and preserve the rights of the citizens against illegal land acquisitions. The RDA emphasizes its commitment to ongoing efforts to eliminate unauthorized housing schemes, creating a secure and lawful housing environment in Rawalpindi.
