The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has started installing digital tools in hospitals across Pakistan to register births and deaths instantly. This is part of the federal government’s “Udaan Pakistan” initiative to modernize record-keeping.
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is working with provincial governments. The goal is to improve the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system. Real-time reporting will ensure accurate records from hospitals and clinics.
This digital system supports Pakistan’s plans for a digital ID and economy. It will also help the World Bank-backed Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP).
Agreements are being signed with provinces to implement the system. Sindh’s government recently partnered with NADRA in a ceremony attended by Minister Saeed Ghani. Health and local government officials signed the agreement.
Balochistan has already signed a similar deal with NADRA. Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, AJK, and Gilgit-Baltistan will follow soon.
Officials say digital registration will reduce errors and improve services. Reliable data will help in policy-making and governance. The move aligns with Pakistan’s vision for a tech-driven future.
