Karachi and Hyderabad faces major power breakdown

Rain and Thunderstorm turns Karachi and Hyderabad into Darkness, A Complete blackout in Karachi due to a thunderstorm which have just hit Hyderabad and adjoining areas which resulted in trip of EHT.

Finally K-Electric breaks the silence.

“The 500 kV transmission line connecting KE to the National Grid has tripped. This has had a rollover effect on Karachi’s electric supply due to which various parts of the city are experiencing an Outage. Restoration efforts are underway with some affected areas already back online. Power situation in the city is expected to improve significantly in the next 4 to 5 hours. We will continue to share updates. We request your cooperation during this time and sincerely regret the inconvenience.”

 

It is unfortunate to see Mega city Karachi and 2nd largest city of Sindh, Hyderabad plunged into Darkness as a single phase wire connected to both cities.

In Karachi affected areas, Defence, Saddar, Old City, North Karachi, Soldier Bazar, Gulistan-e-Johar, Pak Colony and others and from Hyderabad people reported breakdown.

Like always K-Electric has not given an official statement on the breakdown yet, while sources in the organisation said it is due to tripping of high-tension wire.

Rest of the cities in Sindh don’t even matter to Officials as usual
