Schools to remain closed till 15 July, Board Exams cancelled.

ISLAMABAD: All schools will remain closed in Pakistan till 15 July 2020 including colleges and universities as well as board exams being cancelled according to the Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood who addressed the media after the session of National Coordination Committee (NCC).

Earlier schools were closed till 31 May 2020 but as the coronavirus cases keep mounting in Pakistan, the government has decided to keep all educational institutions in the country closed till 15 July 2020.

Board examinations of matric and intermediate (12th grade) have been cancelled and students will be promoted based on the results from previous years for instance students will be admitted into universities based on first year intermediate results.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the lockdown restrictions will gradually be lifted and businesses will be opened in a phased manner from 9 May 2020 keeping in view the impact it has had on the economy.

Although the Prime Minister said that standard operating procedures (SOPs) need to followed by everyone very strictly otherwise there will be a rise in the number of coronavirus cases being reported.
