Toyota Pakistan aka Indus Motor Company (IMC) has resumed bookings for variants of Toyota Corolla Altis and Toyota Yaris. The developments comes from Toyota Walton Motors, who posted on their Facebook page that bookings are open for Toyota Yaris and Toyota Corolla Altis.
It is pertinent to mention that Toyota Pakistan had suspended booking for all vehicles earlier this month. According to the notification issued by the company, the decision was made due to uncertain and volatile market conditions. The development came in light of the political turmoil that resulted in the devaluation of the Pakistani Rupee against the US Dollar (USD to PKR).
Since automotive manufacturers import major parts to assemble vehicles in Pakistan, the continued descent of the Pakistani Rupee against the US Dollar has put a lot of pressure of these automotive manufacturers leading them to suspend bookings indefinitely.
The Pakistan Rupee has made a recovery against US Dollar since reaching its all time low of Rs. 188.10 on 7th April 2022. However, it bears mentioning that the local currency has also reported huge losses during the past two days against the US Dollar as it fell by Rs. 2.89 in the inter-bank market.
