Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced Allama Iqbal Scholarships for Sri Lankan students under Pak-Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Programme. Under the scholarship announced by HEC 1000, Sri Lankan students will be able to pursue their undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degree programs in Engineering Science, Basic and Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. The course spreads for the next five years. The Sri Lankan students can study in Pakistan and enroll in the top universities of the country.
The last date for submission of Applications is June 15, 2021

The Scholarship offers:
- The full tuition fee of the Programme for study in Pakistani universities,
- Accommodation allowance,
- Study allowance,
- Books allowance, and
- One-time return air ticket.
Eligibility Criteria for Allama Iqbal Scholarships for Sri Lankan students
| Medicine | GCE A’ Levels / equivalent examination (Pre-Medical) with at least 65% Marks. |
| Engineering | GCE A’ Levels / equivalent examination (Pre-Engineering) with at least 65% Marks. |
| Bachelor Degree Program | GCE A’ Levels / equivalent examination in required subjects with at least 60% Marks. |
| Master Degree Programs | 16 years education in relevant subjects with 60% marks at graduate level |
| Doctoral Degree Programs | 18 years education in relevant subject with CGPA 3.00/4.00 at Master’s level. Research thesis at MS level is required. |
* Candidates must provide Equivalence Certificate from IBCC and HEC, after they are awarded with Allama Iqbal Scholarship.
Formula GCE A Level Grade
According to IBCC, following formula is applicable on Sri Lankan students:

HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR PERCENTAGE?
- Use the above table as a reference to get Pak Equivalent Marks
- Add these marks
- Divide by the number of subjects you passed
- The answer will be your percentage
EXAMPLE 1
- If you have three grades A, B, and C.
- Your Pak Equivalent Marks will be 85, 70 and 57 respectively.
- Add these marks 85 + 70 + 57 = 212
- Divide by a number of subjects i.e. three. 212/3 = 70.66
- Your percentage marks will be 70.66
EXAMPLE 2
- If you have three grades A, A, and B.
- Your Pak Equivalent Marks will be 85, 85 and 70 respectively.
- Add these marks 85 + 85 + 70 = 240
- Divide by a number of subjects i.e. three. 240/3 = 80.00
- Your percentage marks will be 80.00
Terms and Conditions
- Only Srilankan citizens are eligible for the award of scholarship. Dual nationals are not eligible.
- The age limit for BS programs is 17-22 years and the maximum age limit for graduate and doctoral programs is 35 years.
- The candidate must have acquired the requisite qualification on or before the last date of application submission.
- The candidate will be required to serve Sri Lanka after completion of the education in Pakistan.
- Selection will be made purely on a merit basis after a physical examination of the documents provided by the applicant.
- Placement of students will be solely at HEC discretion
- The medium of instruction will be English
- A merit list will be prepared on the basis of information provided by the applicant. In case of any misinformation/misrepresentation, the scholarship will be terminated at any stage

- All registered candidates appear in scholarship test organized by HEC in collaboration with the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo and the Sri Lankan Ministry of Higher Education
- Shortlisted candidates appear in an interview to be held at Pakistan High Commission, Colombo in collaboration with the Sri Lankan Ministry of Higher Education.

a. For BS Engineering, the applicant should have 12 years of Education (GCE, A/levels/F.Sc) in
Pre-engineering with at least 65% marks
b. For BS Medicine, the applicant should have 12 years of Education (GCE, A/levels/F.Sc) in Premedical with at least 65% marks
c. For Other BS Programs, the applicant should have 12 years of Education (GCE, Alevels/F.Sc/F.A) with at least 60% marks
d. For Masters (MS), the applicant should have 16 years of Education (BS/M.Sc or equivalent) in
relevant subject with at least 60% marks at graduate level
e. For Doctoral (PhD), the applicant should have 18 years of Education (MS/MPhil. or
equivalent) in relevant subject with at least 3.00/4.00 CGPA. A research thesis at the MS level
is required. - Applicant age should be:
a. 22 years on scholarship closing date for Bachelors (BS)
b. 35 years on scholarship closing date for Master(MS) or Doctoral (Ph.D.) - How do I submit my application?
